FAQ
No Claim Discount (NCD)
What is No Claim Discount (NCD)?
No Claim Discount (NCD) is a discount on your car insurance premium that your insurer may offer as a reward for not having made a claim against your policy. Typically, you earn one year of NCD for every year you don't make a claim on your car insurance.
If I insure with Allianz, will I be able to bring the NCD from the former insurer?
If you're thinking of insuring your car with Allianz, you may be able to bring your NCD from your former insurer with you to reduce the overall cost of your premium.
Can No Claim Discount (NCD) be transferrable?
No, NCD is not transferrable to another person except to your spouse, provided your spouse is purchasing a new motor insurance plan with Allianz. This is a one-time transfer and it is non-reversible. After the transfer, your NCD for your existing motor insurance policy will become 0%.
Car Excess
What is a Car excess?
Car Insurance excess is the amount you need to contribute towards the cost of repairing your car if you make a claim. To make car insurance premiums more reasonable for everyone, we include an excess in your policy.
How can I know more about the types of excesses?
There are different types of excesses depending on what your claim relates to, who was driving your car and the type of cover you have chosen. If your claim is for more than one accident or event, you or the driver will have to pay the excess for each accident or event. You can find the amount of each excess you’ll need to pay on your Policy Schedule.
Benefits & Policy
Is there any 24-hour towing service included?
Yes. 24-hour towing service is automatically embedded into our insurance plans, even if you buy just Third Party Only coverage.
How many drivers can I name in my policy?
You can name up to 4 drivers in your policy, one main driver plus 3 other drivers.
What does Courtesy Car mean (applicable to Comprehensive insurance package only)?
When Your Vehicle is being repaired and immobilized over 48 hours due to an accident, or if it has been reportedly stolen over 48 hours, Allianz will at its own expense and at your request supply a substitute car; the maximum total cost of this benefit will be limited to 5 calendar days and with a daily limit of HK$1,000.
What is the Windscreen Replacement Benefit (applicable to Comprehensive insurance package only)?
If there is any accidental breakage of glass in the windscreen or in the windows of Your Vehicle provided that there is no other damage to Your Vehicle, a maximum of HK$5,000 (applicable limit per year) will be paid for the repair or replacement of the glass.
Policy Renewal, Cancellation or Update
How do I renew my Car Insurance policy?
When offering you a renewal, we'll send you a car insurance renewal notice at least fourteen (14) days before your renewal date.
Make sure you review your renewal notice, as premiums will change from year to year based on changes to rating factors and costs of repairs or services. Please make sure your details are correct and up to date.
How can I cancel my motor insurance policy?
You can cancel the Policy at any time on seven (7) days’ notice and (provided no claim has arisen during the current Period of Insurance) You shall be entitled to a return of premium less the premium calculated at Allianz short period rates for the period the Policy has been in force.
What happens to my car insurance if I am selling my car?
If you've decided to sell your car and plan to buy a new car, you may cancel your existing car insurance and get a pro-rata refund when you buy car insurance for your new car. However, if you have no plans to acquire a new car, you will need to contact your insurer to cancel your policy.
